In 2011, approximately 135 children of Butler County were interviewed at Sunlight Child Advocacy Center for abuse or neglect PDF Print E-mail

There is a huge gap in our ability to help abused children. You can help us close it. As aggressively as we protect the rights of abused children in Butler County, we need to do a better job of protecting their hearts.

Caitlyn is 9 years old, and a policeman wants to talk to her about what has been happening with her father. It is scary to talk about, and from the way everyone is acting, she thinks she might be in trouble. She has no idea what is going to happen, and she is not sure she wants to tell anyone about it...

With help from generous people like you, SCARF is working to provide three different programs for Caitlyn and other victims of child abuse that will help mend their shattered sense of security. Sunlight Child Advocacy Center has been open since March 2007. It is a child-friendly, safe environment where these children are interviewed by forensically trained professionals. Siblings and non-offending caregivers are provided with resources to help them cope with this difficult situation. Over 500 children and their families have been helped since it opened.

Work is progressing on the creation of Sunshine Children's Home, which will be a place where children who have been temporarily removed from their home can feel safe and secure. Sunrise Visitation Center and Exchange Center will be a place where supervised visitation will occur.

Your donation really does make a difference! Please take a minute to click on the "Donate Now" button in the left column of our site. By helping fund SCARF’s programs, you are showing these vulnerable children a kindness that can bring hope into a young, battered life - and if they can hope, they are halfway home.

Thank you on behalf of the children and families that will be served.

Sincerely,

Suzi Thien
SCARF Executive Director
